I was looking for a nice blogger template, but so far it comes to nil. I managed to like one, vectored and fresh colors...but the link is broken.
Anyway, I'm swimming across inbox messages from my online accounts, including one in DeviantArt. When I read the post/rant in one of my friend's blogs I can't help but agree.
TOO MANY NARUTO/BLEACH/KINGDOM HEARTS FAN ARTS!!!
ON THE POPULAR FRONT PAGE!
I was glad the inu yasha phase is gone, and nope, I got nothing against these series. It's just too many fan arts of them is so overwhelming. A few might think I'm being a bit too dramatic, since its an art community that welcomes everybody so they have the right to vote on the favorite art. A few serious (and talented) artists says its a place for amateurs/hobbyists. A few annoyed artists think there are too many under aged brown nosers who gets pleased easily on what's so hyped (Commonly, cartoons and anime). Yes all that I said above I agree on in some way. But the major thing for me is the Art.
Some replicates the art as it IS. What's the point of being an artist if you just copy off ? Sure, as of late there are lots of derivative manga style of art in dA, but some of them have their unique blend of style so you can know its their work. But some of these popular fan arts is simply a rip-off of almost the original, and I don't see the point of having it faved more than 10,000 times when there is no difference.
"Your artwork is so much like (this series)!" one particular comment will go. And in less than 5 seconds it will be instantly faved.
Gah.
And another thing, doujinshis. They are fan based work as well, but they don't exactly copy off the original, they have their own style imbued in it.
And...
I think more original and deserving artists are needed to be on the popular front page :(

Me versus the Paper

I have so many things I want to draw but I'm just using the exhaustion excuse not to :| In fact if I think about it, if motivation is strong, I can draw under any circumstances with this mind-over-matter power. Like, stand a heat wave while in front of a pc for 3 hours straight (I used to do it)
I think motivation is the problem. I don't have it, including the thought of having to line artworks because a manual colored output does not do digital justice. I also do not have a wacom...it could be my first decision, but my pc is choking with file overload, so I opted with the macbook first (to spare the important files...)which I'm still paying ._.
Could be the hours of rendering with a mouse is starting to sicken me x_x I do it at work. Our tools are not exactly advanced, no wacoms and our photoshop is not the latest...because for some reason, we dont have a tech support system. Seems our boss thinks the FTP is the only technical thing to manage, which he manage by doing it himself...so, less employee to pay o_O? The good side is, no website banning~
Oh back to the topic, that work thing, it could be the one killing my urge to render on pc ._. I mean, if I manage to sneak/fix my camphone one could see HOW MUCH I USE THE MOUSE. Seriously, my clicking finger is so marked on that thing. The coating of the mouse on certain portions have WORN OFF

More adaptations
I was watching Attack of The Show on cable when I heard the news of Dreamworks Studio acquiring Ghost in Shell for a live-action film. Apparently major studios, such as Universal and Sony are after the license, but Steven Speilberg bagged the rights. With him handling the project, it will be promising. I hope it will be done with justice. The series is a classic and inspired film makers...such as the Wachowski's with their The Matrix

Other adaptations: There is a hollywood adaptation of dragonball, I bet a lot of people have heard of this...and like them, I fear it's going to bomb. One of those important reasons, is a non-asian goku. Why is there a pattern in hollywood movies inserting a foreign protagonist in an asian series? Just look at Forbidden Kingdom. Is it a "fish out of water" thing? I really don't know.
I also heard of Akira, and its also slated for an uncertain month around 2009 as well as Battle Angel (from the manga/anime Battle Angel Alita) with James Cameron of Titanic fame directing. A lot of people have commented that Hollywood might be running out of ideas and are now remaking these classics to live-action flicks. But in IMHO, I always think anime/manga works have that unique quality of story telling that I couldn't find in Hollywood movies :)

Last Friends J-Drama = Haruka x Michiru inspired?
Its been over a year since an actual update...
Anyway most of anime otakus that have heard of Sailormoon can always remember the obvious lesbian pairing of Tenoh Haruka and Kaioh Michiru...aka. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune
of the series.
Then few weeks back my friend told me of an ongoing J-Drama (Japan Drama) that have a remarkable coincidence with the characters. The series is called "Last Friends". I blogged it immediately in multiply account, but never got to actually observe the similarities until now. (They don't have english subs yet).
Here is a brief synposis and character cast of Last Friends from DramaWiki
We all assume the creator is inspired with the pairing. And how?
- The protagonists, by their names Michi and Ruka (derivation from Michiru and Haruka)
- The Last Friends Banner (below) is similar with one of the many manga art spreads of Sailor Moon (also below) .
Although the ribbons are red, but you get the idea
- Ruka in the Last Friends is a Motorcross racer, so is our PGSM's Haruka.

The number 27 on Ruka's motorcycle is another sign. To those who don't know Haruka's favorite number is 27 and her birthday falls on the 27th of January. Also the colors of Ruka's uniform bears the similar coloring in Haruka's senshi uniform of yellow and blue.

I wonder if LF's michi actually plays a violin? I will wait and see :)
